In the spring of 2006 my family and I went to the Caribbean Island of Antigua for a week's vacation. One day we hired a driver to show us the island. This was one of the beaches, out of 365 on the island, that he stopped to show us along the way.

Antiguan Dress Shack
Antiguan Dress Shack
The beach where we stayed in Antigua had a row of colorfully painted shacks. The local people apply for a permit to rent out a shack in order to sell their goods to the tourists. This blue one was run by a woman who sold batik dresses, (hanging on the line), shell jewelery, and she braided hair in any way you desired. From the water these shacks added a vibrant element to the beach.

Deep Bay Beach
Deep Bay Beach
The view of this Antiguan Beach is seen from the porch of a restaurant. The first painting I did of this beach, (Deep Bay), was a favorite of mine and I had become used to it hanging on my studio wall. When it sold I missed it enough that I decided to paint the beach again, from another angle. In this painting I included the sailboats that were always available for rent and a few people in the distance.
So now it hangs in place of the other, until the day it too is sold!
This painting was on exhibit in the ROCA members show, Blauvelt, NY for the month of January 2009 and accepted into the VCS Gay Pride Rockland Juried Art Benefit in June 2009.

Around The Corner
Around The Corner
In August of 2008 my family and I rented a house at the last minute, in Boothbay Harbor, Maine. Aside from a couple of photographs on the internet the house was site unseen. When we arrived we parked the car next to the house and I got out and walked around the corner to this phenomenal view! For a week we had gorgeous weather. The easel was set up by the side of the house and every morning I worked on this painting. The entire vacation was perfect!

One October my husband and I stayed in a beautiful Bed and Breakfast over looking the water, on the coast of Maine. From our window I looked down upon this scene and was taken with the chairs in the sunlight and the shadows they cast. Turned out to be a challenging subject!
This painting was accepted into the New Rochelle Art Association's 93rd Annual Juried Show in September 2008.
